August Meeting Minutes submitted by Secretary Tabby Conrow
The August meeting was called to order by Commodore Brenda Pitzer at 10:03am with 12 members present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
Tabby read the minutes from the July 2023 meeting. Motion was made by Cindy Blaylock to accept the minutes. Lindy Wood seconded the motion. All approved.
Ellie Borrowman read the Treasurers report on behalf of Missy Jaeger. Gregg Blaylock motioned to accept the report and Cindy Blaylock seconded the motion. All approved.
No correspondences this month. No members sick. No deaths.
Dave Barron mentioned that Catie Murry was in a rollover accident early Friday morningand was in the hospital, having surgery sometime today. Catie grew up at the marina and her Mom was previous resident and boat club member and her step dad is a current resident. Brenda said that if Dave can get her address, we can send her a card.
Old Business:
1) Purchasing AED for next year: Cindy checked on grant available for AED and there are 11 or 12 AEDs to choose from and the grant covers all the cost. She will send the information to Terry Powel and get his input on the one we should get a grant for next year.
2) Getting more cabinets or shelves added to the existing cabinets in the shelter house was discussed again. Gregg recommended working with him or the ship store staff in getting items down using forklift and pallets the day before we need them. And we can always get the items down in the spring and put them back up in the fall.
3) August 26th Halfback weekend – We have about 68 signed up so far, so we are planning for 80. Ellie is in charge of organizing the food and who is cooking. We have some food items left over from last breakfast. If you are working the breakfast, please be at the shelter house at 6:30am. Workers get half price breakfast if they so choose. The maps had to be reprinted because the Clarksville sandbar location moved. Brenda has the maps to give to Dana. Cindy said that there is a bag of decks of cards somewhere in the ship store that she will look for. Ellie and Missy volunteered to cover the South Sandbar.
New Business:
1) Marina Landbar party on September 9th. Fatboys is hosting the food and the band on their patio. If you are a resident, you will get an arm band that will allow you to eat for free. Non-residents can attend but they will need to pay to eat. There will also be volleyball, cornhole and the blow up slide for everyone to enjoy. There will be antique boats and maybe some speed boats to look at.
2) Brenda introduced new members Chris and Aaron Money who were in attendance today.
3) Lindy made the motion to set the day and time for the annual Trunk-or-Treat event for Saturday, October 14th beginning at 6pm. We will also plan to have a potluck chili and hotdog meal afterward. It will be residents, boat club members and their guests. Brenda suggested that we could open to public but have non-residents park outside the gates and walk in to keep traffic down. It would also be nice to have the firetruck back at the Fatboys lot for the kids like last year. Ellie seconded the motion. All approved.
Upcoming Marina events:
· August 25-27 Halfback Weekend
o August 25th Pool Pizza Party 6-7:30pm
o August 26th TRBC Breakfast 8-10am, TRBC Dice Run 11am-6pm, Evening BBQ 5:30-6:45pm – Live Band
o August 27th Continental Breakfast 9-10:30am
· September1 – 4 Labor Day weekend
· September 9th – Landbar Party and Antique/Classic Boat Show
Lindy motioned to adjourn the meeting at 10:40am and Andrea seconded the motion. All approved.
Next meeting will be September 16th, 10:00am.
Winner of the 50/50 drawing of $15.50 was Danny Wood.
Respectfully,
Tabby Conrow
Secretary
