Two Rivers Boat Club
Minutes of Two Rivers Boat Club meeting September 15, 2023
Commodore Brenda called the meeting to order with 15 members in attendance. The pledge of Allegiance was recited. Cindy Blaylock read the minutes in the absence of Secretary Tabby Conrow. Jim Pitzer and Ellie Borrowman offered motions to accept, the motion carried.
Treasurer Missy Jaeger provided the members with a financial report noting that we made nearly $1300 on the recent breakfast we served. Our ending balance is $5894.00. Gregg Blaylock and Danny Wood provided motions to accept the report and the motion carried.
Under Old business Cindy reported that the AED grant is available and it appears to be ongoing. She suggested maybe we wait until spring to make the purchase for the new season. In the meantime, she will continue to research options. Brenda reminded everyone that the Trunk or Treat is planned for October 14 from 5-7pm. It was decided to have a game day from 3-5 for members. There will be washers, horseshoes and other games for members to enjoy. Andrea and Jimmy will be in charge of gathering the games and setting up ‘play’. The Trunk or Treat will be open to the public with parking at Fatboys. Melissa has spoken to the Fire Department and they will be on hand. Families will be encouraged to visit Fatboys for dinner before and after treating. No outside vehicles will be allowed on the property for safety reasons. The boat club will have a carry in Chili and hotdogs following the Trunk or Treat.
Ellie thanked everyone who helped cook at the breakfast and Missy talked about how fun the impromptu Fish fry was last Friday. So much so that it will likely become an annual event, likely Labor Day Friday.
Discussion was held regarding the Poker run, turned poker walk. As it turned out the rain was a blessing so plans for next year will likely be planned on the property to better allow transient/visitors to participate.
Cindy shared that former member Mike Driscoll passed away 8/29. Missy and Gregg offered a motion, as is customary, to send $50 to the families charity of choice. Cindy will make sure that is sent.
Brenda asked for New business. Gregg suggested that TRM would offer the old “stage” in the shop to the boat club to have a space for storage that is more convenient that upstairs over the office. That space will eliminate the need for more cabinets in the pavilion. Danny made a motion that was seconded by Jimmy to move forward with making that space accommodate our needs. Gregg, Danny, Jimmy and Aaron will take a look at the space and make this a fall project to complete for next season. Brenda suggested a possibility that we move the refrigerator West a bit to give more access at the sink. That same committee offered to look at possibilities.
Cindy shared that the marina will be sponsoring First Friday’s at “wrecked”. The first in November and Laurell is looking at booking a comedian/hypnotist for the evening. It will be a appetizer carry in.
The December First Friday December 2, will be the Boat Club Christmas Party. Missy, Lindy, Cindy, Jennifer and Chris will make up that planning committee. Scot and Gregg made the motion to go ahead and book FatBoys for the party. There will also be a “white elephant” gift exchange. Gregg reminded everyone that a white elephant gift is something you don’t want anymore, is ugly and more of a fun gag gift that makes for a fun exchange.
Gregg and Cindy have reserved the Pavilion for October 7th on behalf of Big John Wiltsh. He is hosting his famous Pork Chop dinner. Please contact Cindy as soon as possible if you’d like to attend. It will be a carry in as well.
Brenda thanked TRM on behalf of the boat club members for the Landbar party held last weekend. A good time was had by all.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned.
